Sony Sent Us a Monster: Early Unboxing of the PS5 Marvel’s Wolverine Limited Edition
When a massive, heavily branded crate arrived at the Faleozi Media studio this week, I knew exactly what it was. Huge shoutout to the team at PlayStation for sending this over early so the kinghacks365 community could get a first look. Today, we are tearing into one of the most aggressive hardware drops of 2026: the PS5 Digital Edition – Marvel’s Wolverine Battle Yellow Limited Edition Bundle.
And because Sony knows we love high-end hardware, they also included the premium PS5 Pro Adamantium Limited Edition console covers and matching DualSense.
If you've been waiting for a console design that perfectly captures Logan's raw intensity, Sony and Insomniac Games have absolutely delivered. Let's get this out of the box, review the hardware up close, and break down the pricing for when it hits retail.
The Main Event: Unboxing the "Battle Yellow" PS5 Digital Edition
Right out of the packaging, this console commands attention on the desk. Inspired by Wolverine's "Battle Reborn" suit, the console shells are drenched in a bold, striking yellow finish that instantly pops next to standard tech gear.
Design and Aesthetics
Instead of standard flat plates, Sony went all out with transparent claw-mark cutouts physically sliced into the shell. These slashes allow you to literally peek under the hood of the PS5 and see the internal hardware. It’s a brilliant design choice that marries the physical ferocity of the character with the cutting-edge tech inside.
The Controller
The bundled DualSense wireless controller mirrors the console's energy. It features the same battle-yellow base with furious, dark slash marks across the grips and touchpad. It feels exactly like the standard DualSense in terms of ergonomics, but visually, it looks like it just survived a fight with Sabretooth.
What’s in the PR Box?
- Limited Edition PS5 Digital Edition Console (825GB / Slim Model)
- Limited Edition "Battle Yellow" DualSense Controller
- Full game voucher for Marvel’s Wolverine (including early unlocks for the Classic Brown suit)
- Standard accessories (HDMI, power cord, USB cable, standard horizontal feet)
- Astro’s Playroom pre-installed
Note: This bundle is entirely digital. There is no disc drive included out of the box, meaning you will be downloading your copy of the game. If you want to use physical media, you will need to purchase the attachable disc drive separately.
The "Another One": PS5 Pro Adamantium Limited Edition
Sony didn't leave out the power users. Alongside the yellow bundle, they sent over the Adamantium Limited Edition console covers and standalone controllers specifically designed for the PS5 Pro.
Instead of yellow, the Adamantium edition swaps to a sleek, silvery-white metallic finish. It retains those dramatic see-through claw-slashed details, giving the PS5 Pro an incredibly premium, almost industrial look. The matching Adamantium DualSense is easily one of the best-looking controllers Sony has ever produced, balancing subtle metallic tones with aggressive styling.
Kinghacks365 Official Review & Impressions
The Pros
- The Transparent Cutouts: This isn't just a custom paint job. The physical alterations to the console plates make this one of the most unique special editions in PlayStation history.
- Controller Design: The controller strikes the perfect balance between character homage and sleek gaming gear.
- The Value Pack: Getting the full game voucher alongside the limited hardware makes the bundle feel like a complete package.
The Cons
- Digital Only: The lack of a disc drive in the bundle is a hard pill to swallow for physical media collectors, taking away from the seamless custom aesthetic if you have to bolt a standard white drive onto it later.
- Retail Availability: Like previous custom bundles, these are heavily capped by retailers and will be notoriously difficult to secure on launch day.
Official Retail Pricing
If you are looking to secure your own when they go live, here is the official retail breakdown. Note that if you are buying internationally (like our local readers in Pakistan), import costs and local market premiums will drive these numbers significantly higher.
| Item | Official Retail Price (USD) |
| PS5 Digital Edition - Battle Yellow Bundle | $649.99 |
| DualSense Controller - Battle Yellow | $84.99 |
| DualSense Controller - Adamantium (Pro) | $84.99 |
| PS5 Slim Console Covers - Battle Yellow | $74.99 |
| PS5 Pro Console Covers - Adamantium/Yellow | $74.99 |
The Verdict
Sony absolutely nailed the aesthetic of Wolverine. The Battle Yellow Digital Edition brings a vibrant, aggressive pop of color to the Faleozi Media studio, while the Adamantium Pro covers offer a refined, metallic alternative for those who want something slightly more subtle. If you can look past the lack of a disc drive in the main bundle, this is a must-have for hardcore Marvel fans.
