Galaxy Unpacked July 2025: A Thinner Fold, a Smarter Flip, and a Watch That Sees Your Health in a New Light

Samsung's summer Unpacked event has officially wrapped, and while the torrent of pre-release leaks left few major surprises, the details of the company's latest devices paint a clear picture of its strategy: aggressive refinement, deeper AI integration, and a new push for accessibility in the foldable market.

From the astonishingly thin new Galaxy Z Fold 7 to a more affordable Fan Edition Flip and a redesigned Galaxy Watch 8 series, Samsung has laid its cards on the table for the second half of 2025. Here’s everything the company announced.

The Flagship Reimagined: Galaxy Z Fold 7

Samsung kicked off the show with its star player, the Galaxy Z Fold 7. After six generations of iteration, the company has achieved its thinnest and lightest book-style foldable ever. The new device measures a stunning 8.9mm thick when closed and a razor-thin 4.2mm when unfolded—a 26 percent reduction from its predecessor. At just 215 grams, it's not only Samsung's lightest foldable but is even lighter than the non-folding Galaxy S25 Ultra.

This dramatic slim-down comes with a surprising design choice: Samsung has dropped S Pen support. The company explained that stylus usage on the Fold 6 was "really low," and removing the internal digitizer layer was a key factor in achieving the new, slender profile.

Despite its diet, Samsung claims the Z Fold 7 is more durable than ever, thanks to a new grade-four titanium layer and a redesigned FlexHinge that makes the dreaded display crease significantly less prominent. The main internal display itself is now larger and more immersive, expanding to 8 inches from 7.6 inches.

Under the hood, the Z Fold 7 is a performance beast, powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and a 4,400mAh battery. For photography, it inherits the massive 200-megapixel main sensor from the Galaxy S25 Ultra, a major upgrade that finally brings its primary camera in line with Samsung's top-tier traditional phones. This is complemented by a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and a 12MP ultrawide. The internal selfie camera is no longer under the display and now offers a wider 100-degree field of view at 10MP resolution.

  • Pricing & Availability: Pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 start today, with pricing beginning at $2,000. It will be available on July 25 in Blue Shadow, Jet Black, and Silver Shadow, with an exclusive Mint color on Samsung.com.

The Clamshell Perfected: Galaxy Z Flip 7

Samsung's popular clamshell foldable also received a significant makeover. The new Galaxy Z Flip 7 features a gorgeous 4.1-inch edge-to-edge FlexWindow with bezels measuring a mere 1.25mm, giving it the thinnest display bezel on any Samsung phone. The cover screen is not just for show; it boasts a 120Hz refresh rate, 2,600 nits of peak brightness, and works directly with Google Gemini for AI queries without opening the phone.

For the first time, the internal screen has also grown, now measuring 6.9 inches (up from 6.7 inches). To power the larger displays, Samsung has equipped the Z Flip 7 with a much larger 4,300mAh battery. The entire device features improved water protection and the new Armor FlexHinge to reduce creasing.

In a notable departure from the Fold, the Z Flip 7 is powered by Samsung's in-house Exynos 2500 chipset. While this may raise eyebrows, Samsung's recent high-end Exynos chips have proven to be formidable performers. For imaging, the device has a 50MP main camera and a 12MP ultra-wide, with both supporting 10-bit HDR capture.

  • Pricing & Availability: The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is available for pre-order today starting at $1,100. It comes in Coral Red, Blue Shadow, and Jet Black, with a Samsung.com exclusive Mint color.

A Foldable for the Fans: The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE

If the high cost of entry has kept you away from foldables, Samsung is offering a new on-ramp. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is the company's first "Fan Edition" foldable, but its affordability is relative. At $900, it's still a premium device.

Essentially, the Z Flip 7 FE is a rebranded Galaxy Z Flip 6, powered by an Exynos 2400 processor and a smaller 3,700mAh battery. It forgoes the design flourishes of the flagship Flip 7, retaining the smaller, folder-shaped cover screen and 6.7-inch internal display of last year's model. It does, however, come with the full Galaxy AI software suite.

  • Pricing & Availability: The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is available for pre-order today in Black or White, starting at $900 for 128GB of storage.

A Smarter Timepiece: Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic

Samsung's wearable lineup has been streamlined and upgraded. The new Galaxy Watch 8 features a thinner, "squircle" design reminiscent of the previous Watch Ultra. Despite being 11 percent smaller than its predecessor, it boasts better battery life thanks to larger cells in both the 40mm (325mAh) and 44mm (435mAh) models. The new AMOLED display is incredibly bright at 3,000 nits, and a new lug system makes swapping straps easier.

Shipping with Wear OS 6, the Watch 8 is the first to feature Google's Gemini assistant on a Samsung wearable. A unique new health feature allows the watch to measure the antioxidant levels in your blood by placing your thumb on the heart rate scanner.

The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic returns for fans of the physical rotating bezel, offered in a single 46mm size. A minor update to the Galaxy Watch Ultra was also announced, with a new SKU offering 64GB of internal storage and the new lug system.

  • Pricing & Availability: The Galaxy Watch 8 series starts at $350, while the Watch 8 Classic will cost $500 (Wi-Fi) and $550 (cellular). All models are available for pre-order today.

Software Update: Samsung Wallet Gets Buy Now, Pay Later

Finally, Samsung announced that its Buy Now, Pay Later service, first teased in January, is officially launching with the new Fold 7, bringing more flexible payment options directly into the Samsung Wallet ecosystem.
