Samsung is finally ready to bring foldable phones to the masses. At its summer Unpacked event today, the company unveiled its latest clamshell foldable, the Galaxy Z Flip 7, alongside a brand-new, more budget-friendly model: the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. This marks the first time Samsung has introduced a foldable into its popular "Fan Edition" lineup, signaling a significant step towards making this innovative form factor more accessible.

The new Galaxy Z Flip 7 and its FE counterpart are available for preorder in the US starting today, July 9, 2025, with general availability slated for July 25th.

The flagship Galaxy Z Flip 7 boasts a stunning, nearly borderless 4.1-inch AMOLED cover display that elegantly wraps around the camera lenses. This is a significant upgrade from its predecessor, offering users more screen real estate for notifications, widgets, and selfies. The internal display is a vibrant 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED panel, and both screens now support a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and an impressive peak brightness of 2,600 nits. It will retail for $1,099.

Priced at a more approachable $899, it aims to capture a wider audience that has been hesitant to jump on the foldable bandwagon due to high prices. The Z Flip 7 FE retains the familiar 3.4-inch folder-shaped cover screen from the Z Flip 6, which still offers ample functionality. The internal display is the same 6.7-inch panel as its more expensive sibling. In the camera department, it sports a capable 10-megapixel front camera, a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a high-resolution 50-megapixel wide-angle main camera. The battery is a respectable 4,000mAh, and it comes with either 256GB or 512GB of internal storage.

The primary differences lie in the performance and memory. The Z Flip 7 FE is equipped with Samsung's own Exynos 2400 chipset and comes with 8GB of RAM, a step down from the Snapdragon and 12GB of RAM in the regular Z Flip 7. While the Exynos 2400 is a capable processor, it may not offer the same level of peak performance as the latest Snapdragon chip. The Z Flip 7 FE is available in two classic colors: black and white.
